Roy Livraison History 1998 – Burnham Canada Ltd. “moving” division purchased by Mario Bourque and Claude Boilard. Corporate name changed to “Déménagement R. Martineau inc.”.
– Administration and operating activities transferred to the Sherbrooke industrial park and merger with Déménagement G. Roy, main competitor in the Sherbrooke region.
– Creation of the new “furniture and household appliance delivery” division. First major contract signed with Sears Canada.

2000 – New branch, with an area of 17,000 square feet, opened in Saint-Hubert (Montreal’s south shore). – Two companies officially merged and corporate name changed to “Déménagement Roy et Martineau inc.”

2000 – The Saint-Hubert branch became the principal place of business for Greater Montreal.

2002 – New office and warehouse opened in Laval, after the signing of a delivery contract with Sears Canada to serve Montreal's north and south shores.

2003 – Mr. Stéphane Tousignant, General Manager for Greater Montreal at that time, became a shareholder and Vice-Chairman.

2006 – Montreal’s regional office transferred from Saint-Hubert to Brossard. M. Gilles Pépin, General Manager of Operations, became a shareholder.

2006 – Contract signed with Service de l’Estrie to deliver household appliances for its stores in Sherbrooke, Granby, Saint-Hyacinthe, Drummondville, Victoriaville and Trois-Rivières.

2007 – Contract signed with The Bay to deliver furniture and household appliances in the Quebec City, Chicoutimi and Alma regions.

2007 – Contract signed with The Bay to deliver furniture and household appliances in Greater Montreal.

2007 – Construction of a warehouse with an area of 13,500 square feet in the Gatineau industrial park after contract signed by DUO Livraison spécialisée and Brault & Martineau to deliver furniture and household appliances in the Gatineau-Ottawa region.

2008 – Three-year contract with Hydro-Québec through the “Consortium MRE Environnement” to pick up more than 230,000 household appliances.

Déménagement G. Roy Inc. from 1960 to 2000

1960 – Company founded by Gilles Y. Roy.

Affiliation with Atlas Van Lines to offer specialized moving services throughout Canada, the United States and the world.

1978 – Arrival of Claude Boilard.

1981 – Acquisition of 50% of the company’s shares by Claude Boilard.

1986 – Acquisition of a building with an area of 20,000 square feet in the Sherbrooke industrial park.

1989 – Construction of an adjacent building with an area of 13,600 square feet.

1998 – Gilles Roy transferred his shares to Mario Bourque.

1998 – Acquisition of Raoul Martineau inc., (owned by American firm Burnham Canada Ltd.), the main competitor of Déménagement G. Roy. United under the same roof, the two companies captured between 60% and 70% of the moving market in the Sherbrooke region.

2000 – New 17,000 square foot branch opened in Saint-Hubert (Montreal’s south shore). Official merger of the two companies and corporate name changed to “Déménagement Roy et Martineau inc.”.

Raoul Martineau Inc. from 1935 to 2000

1935 – Raoul Martineau inc. founded by Mr. Ernest Martineau.

1947 – Raoul Martineau purchased his father’s transportation permit.

1950 – Acquisition of property on 12th Avenue in Sherbrooke; construction of the first warehouse and establishment of a fleet of four trucks.

1957 – Affiliation with United Van Lines Canada.

1985 – Mario Bourque acquired 33.5% of the company’s shares.

1992 – Branch opened in Quebec City to deliver and install photocopiers for Xerox Canada, a major client.

1993 – Branch opened in Montreal for the same purpose.

1997 – Company sold to Burnham Canada Ltd., becoming its “moving” division.
